Since June 1991, a new name has been forging the future of the cryogenic industry; PHPK technologies. Though the name is new, it represents some of the most talented and experienced minds in applied cryogenics. The main thrust of this organization is to supply state-of-the-art, industrial class cryogenic equipment and systems.

Founder James G. Pierce is well-known for the development of the highly successful former CryoVac Inc./CVI Inc. organization. Pierce has taken his 42 years' experience and top technical experts and formed PHPK, with a vision of a new leader in the cryogenic industry.

Today, PHPK develops and manufactures standard product components, transfer line systems, and machinery for the cryogenic industry based on advances in design concepts, material properties, and manufacturing technology. These developments include a new line of reciprocating cryogenic expansion engines, a reciprocating cold compressor suitable for service down to 3°K, and a modular design helium refrigerator/liquefier product line with 3-16 liter per hour equivalent capacity. These units operate without the need for LN2 pre-cooling and with a standard, integrated control system that allows for remote monitoring and control.
